Our Residents
Presently New Journeys Transitional Home is able to house 4 residents and one house parent. Our Executive/Program Director interviews the young women to determine if they are motivated enough to attend school, work and strive towards self-sufficiency and independence while living in a supportive and safe environment. We have one staff member who is the house parent and lives on site. She has faced homelessness herself, so we are helping her with living in a stable and safe environment as well. The house parent’s salary is room and board. She teaches the girls how to cook simple meals, do laundry, and manage their money and other life skills.
We have partnered with the Community Partnership for the Homeless, The Charlee Program, Miami Rescue Mission and Switchboard of Miami to make sure they know help is available. These various agencies contact NJTH when they have a homeless youth age 18 – 24 years old.
